SPACE is a form of applied NVR, developed by Dr. Eli Lebowitz at Yale University. Jacinta, Mike, and Chris combined their expertise in psychology, education, (social-) language, and counselling into SPACE Training programs. This focus now includes psychoeducation, as well as expert guidance for the two essential SPACE Treatment components: supports and accommodations.
SPACE Training can be done next to any psychotherapy or counselling sessions since the focus is on teaching parents (or other caregivers) how to change the home environment to be more supportive and less accommodating. Besides knowledge of anxiety, its impact, the underlying neuropsychological principles of processing language and responding under stress, Jacinta, Mike, and Chris also focus on improving the home climate by teaching parents about positive parenting.
Due to ethical constrictions, we cannot and will not provide a commission for made referrals in any form.
We do not initiate any cold calls. If after you and I determine that SPACE Training would be a good option for the parents (or caregivers) of your client, let’s talk to them together through web conferencing so we can focus on strengthen the combined therapeutic relationship.
Dr. Chris has been working in Education since 1995 in Europe, and since 2007 in Canada. He is specialized in neuropsychological principles of learning disorders, as well as various behavioural approaches in remediating anxiety (REBT, CBT, TA, SFBT). He has been assisting children with anxiety disorders in schools since 1997.
Credentials:
Jacinta is a licensed Speech and Language Pathologist in Saskatchewan, Canada. She has been specializing in pragmatics (the use of social language) and has experience with selective mutism and other forms of anxiety. Jacinta’s main interest in SPACE Training is about teaching parents how to construct supportive language statements that promote better relationships.
